Bye bye cord, hello belly button...

I only have a quick minute to post... I just wanted to mention a few little things before I forget them...
Willow lost her umbilical cord on Tuesday (June 20th). I stared at it for a few minutes, blinking back tears, and wondered what I should do with it. It seemed wrong to just throw it away... All I could think was "this is my last baby umbilical cord..." And I held that shriveled, slightly smelly bit of brown yuck and tried not to cry.
I did throw it away though... I am not that much of a freak.
On Friday (June 23rd) Willow smiled. In her sleep. Not at me... I know that it was just gas, but it was sweet.
I had forgotten how much attention a newborn gets... Especially when you have the added novelty of a newborn in that newfangled contraption-the sling. I can't walk ten feet without someone stopping me, asking how old, how big, girl or boy, what's her name? Etc. Not to mention, how tiny!!! How sweet! She's beautiful! And other oohs and aahs... It doesn't matter where we are, Walmart, the doctor's office, restaurants... People love babies...
And that, while rather annoying, is fine. I don't mind playing the proud parent...
Just don't touch my baby, ok? Keep your hands off...
Another reason slings are cool, by the way... People can't really touch your baby unless they are prepared to get a little friendly with you, and most people aren't comfortable sticking their hands down the front of what amounts to a stranger's clothes...
