Today I learned: The sewing instructions include exact measurements for a reason... Don't try to change them. It probably is "so big" for a reason.
Really.
Trust me.
Yeah.
Sooooo.... I made my first mei tai (cloth backpack-like baby carrier that you wear strapped to your chest) today.
Twice.
I was measuring it out, following the instructions to the letter... And the body seemed HUGE! I mean, I've got this teeny baby, I thought she might get lost in the giant fabric square... So I made it smaller... Cut it all out, sewed it all up, and then realized it fit ME perfectly, nice and tight across my chest.... AND.... Where the hell was I going to put Willow???
The extra inches of fabric were to create a POUCH for the baby to SIT IN.
Duh.
So I took it all apart and remade it... And it looks darn good! I am sooooo proud of myself...
Yeah... I look awful and sweaty and have no makeup on... But folks, its LITERALLY 95* in my kitchen, where this photo was taken... My nice air-conditioned bedroom did not prepare me for that!
Anywho... These are way cute and oh so comfy!
I could totally sell these things on my little site.
