Today is my anniversary!!! James and I have been married three years today! We were married in my mother's backyard by a Justice of the Peace at noon on September 22, 2002, and then again at midnight that same evening, in a witchy circle. Someday, I'd like to redo our handfasting... That circle was so dead... Not magickal at all. The woman who did it for us didn't know what she was doing, although she certainly talked as if she did... One of those people who have "high priestess fever" (a person who pretends to know more about witchyness then they actually do... Someone drawn to the craft because they want to have a coven of followers, because they want to feel special) Plus the whole thing was rushed, and last minute and the lines had to be read off of papers, which is not very romantic... It was like a school play. A badly rehearsed one at that... Which was mostly our own fault, because last minute we had a falling out with the couple that was supposed to do the ceremony for us. We did have a beautiful reception the next day. I wore a purple and black gown and black magic roses twined in my hair with a silver diadem. I had a bouquet of black magic roses, purple hydrangea, sage leaves and small berries. My bridesmaids (two) had cream colored roses in their's but everything else the same. James had on a really lovely tux with a silvery grey vest, and a collar with no bowtie. The witchling wore a white dress and carried a wand, it had ribbons was topped with a heart made out of purple hydrangea. The flowers on the tables were lovely, the cake great, both had a harvest theme... They were decorated with not only flowers, but fruit and veggies as well, because Mabon (the day we were married) is sort of a witchy thanksgiving, giving thanks to the Gods for the harvest... There was karaoke and dancing and everyone had a great time... Of course, this was also the time when my lovely mother decided to do the horizontal mambo in my hotel suite... But, other than that, and my uncle getting drunnk and spilling scotch down the back of my dress, (as well as hitting on his daughter's ex-girlfriend!) we had a wonderful time! Heh heh heh. And now it's three years later. Its been a hard three years. Things were tough, money has been tight at times. Very very tight at times, and we have had our share of very bad fights! But I love my husband so much, he's my best friend... Lots of people say that, I know, but in my case its oh so true! We talk throughout the day, we tell each other everything... When I was staying with my Gran a few weeks ago, she was amazed that James called me so much. She couldn't understand what we would have to talk about ten times a day! LOL I can't imagine being without him. So happy third anniversary to me, and I hope there are fifty more to come! Things you can only learn from movies and television... If I see one more little winky... |
